Holy Family Services Adoption & Foster Care Agency Misrepresented in Adoption Scam
Southern California Agency’s name fraudulently used in scam to take money from potential adoptive parents.
(May 1, 2020, Los Angeles, CA) Julie Brown, Executive Director at HFS Adoption & Foster Care also known as Holy Family Services Adoption & Foster Care released the following statement today:
It has come to our attention that potential adoptive parents are being solicited by someone fraudulently using the logo of HFS Adoption & Foster Care and using the name “Holy Family Adoption Services.” The person or person(s) who are a part of this entity are in no way connected to or associated with HFS Adoption & Foster Care. The scammers are contacting unsuspecting people seeking to adopt through social media, sending them a picture of a young woman and baby and asking for money to adopt this child.
Our agency does not initiate contact with people or send pictures of babies in need of adoption without potential parents first completing a rigorous screening process and being approved by the agency. If you or anyone you know are contacted by this entity contact your local law enforcement immediately. We have contacted the FBI.
HFS Adoption & Foster Care learned about the scam from victims who contacted the agency to find out more information about the adoption process. Victims are being contacted through Facebook and other social media. The HFS adoption practices are ethical and adhere to the laws of the state of California. HFS was founded over 70 years ago by Dolores Hope, Bob Hope’s wife. HFS has an impeccable record and conducts infant and child adoption and foster placements legally and with utmost respect to the birth mothers and adoptive parents.
To become an adoptive or foster parent HFS Adoption & Foster Care requires the following:
- Attendance to an orientation
- Intake interview
- Completed home study
- Must live within the following counties: Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside
