A 20-year social work veteran, Julie Brown has been with HFS since 2012. She received her Masters in Social Welfare from UCLA and her Bachelors Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences from San Diego State University. After graduating UCLA, she started her career as a medical social worker before joining the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services where she worked in the Adoption Division and then Quality Assurance Division. Julie was recruited into the non-profit sector to lead the Foster and Foster Adoption Department for Vista Del Mar.
As Executive Director of HFS, Julie focuses on making sure that clients are fully educated on their options and the complex intricacies of the adoption process.
“I am very lucky to be able to say that I create families for a living. Empowering couples and individuals to realize their dream of becoming parents is the most fulfilling career I could have ever imagined.”
Since immigrating to the United States in 1974, Julie has called Los Angeles home outside of the time she spent at SDSU. She grew up in a very close, tightknit family that ultimately shaped her interest in child welfare. Julie and her husband reside in a diverse community in Los Angeles where they are raising their three daughters and enjoy spending time together outdoors, at concerts, and experiencing the arts.
