HFS will celebrate 75 years of creating forever families in May of 2024. I’d like to think that HFS co-founders Dolores Hope and Dr. George Piness would have believed, in 1949, that HFS would go on to provide 75 years of service to the community and beyond! HFS was first associated with St. Anne’s Maternity Hospital and the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, and then later with the Sisters of Social Service, who assumed administration of HFS in 1963. In 2007, HFS became an institution of the Los Angeles Episcopal Diocese, under the able leadership of The Rt. Rev. J. Jon Bruno.
Almost 7000 children have been placed in their forever homes because of HFS’s work.
Are you one of those children? An adoptive parent? A sibling? Perhaps you are a Birthmother/parent? Do you have an HFS adoption story to share? HFS wants to hear your story and share it!
Send your memories, videos, photos, or whatever you would like to share on the form below. We’ll be collecting and posting over the next several years.
And remember: Post-adoption support is available to all HFS adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents through the agency.

President, HFS Board of Directors
